Tupahue Pool

A large pool in the middle of the hill and with a panoramic view that you cannot miss.

Measuring 82 meters long and 25 meters wide, this large rectangle of azure water stands out within the San Cristóbal hill. And it is one of the favorite places to escape the summer heat, both for Chileans and tourists.

Tupahue means “Place of God” In Quechua, this pool is located in the heart of the Parquemet and it was named a Historical Monument in 2005 for its heritage and architectural value. It was inaugurated in 1966, it is the work of architect Carlos Martner, who was a visionary and the potential of the land in a quarry that was used as a garbage dump.

What to see and do in Piscina Tupahue?

An afternoon at the pool to cool off in summer is always a good idea. In this same place you will find an attractive mural designed by the Mexican artist Juan O'Gorman and executed by María Martner. He Tupahue mural represents the union between the people of Mexico and Chile. In the 60s, different projects were carried out in alliance with Mexico, such as the Anahuac Culture House y Plaza Mexico, both within the San Cristóbal hill.

In the Tupahue sector of the San Cristóbal hill there are also other attractions such as the Victoria Tower, a picnic area and the Delicatto Cafeteria (at the Tupahue Cable Car Station).

How to get to Tupahue pool?

If you come from the Pedro de Valdivia entrance you can take the Santiago Cable Car at Oasis Station and get off Tupahue Station, which is just steps from the pool. On the Cable Car you will enjoy an incredible view of the city.

If you enter through Pío Nono, it is best to take a panoramic bus that leaves you at Estación Tupahue, these buses are also open so you can look at the landscape while you climb San Cristóbal Hill quickly and safely.

The Tupahue pool opens in summer season from Tuesday to Sunday and you must buy the tickets directly at the web page from Parquemet.
